Jackson Outfitters focuses on trophy bull elk and cow elk hunts in unit 61. We hunt on private property and are permitted to hunt on a vast area of public land in the Uncompahgre National Forest as well as Bureau of Land Management. The terrain is a mixture of high desert plateau and deep canyons, scrub oak, ponderosa pine and lodge pole pine cover, and the elk love to rut here. We have a residential herd that remains in the area year-round giving us the opportunity to hunt September through mid-December on public and private land.

Our trophy bull elk hunts are just that, TROPHY! With lots of bulls seen daily, the average bull harvested is in the 320” range with several bulls 350+”. Our cow elk hunts are affordable, and we have a very high success rate each year. These hunts are a perfect fit for hunters with a wide range of physical conditions (including low physical ability), as we have great success in glassing from vehicles and ATV’s. Once we have located the elk we are looking to harvest we can usually make a short stalk to get into range. There are also areas that are very physically demanding for those hard-core hunters. Steep canyons located in our permitted public areas hold hidden herds of elk and are incredibly challenging to hunt. We provide lodging, meals and vehicle/atv transportation.

We also provide mule deer buck and black bear hunts in unit 61. We see a good amount of trophy deer in our area. Black bear populations are at an all-time high with lots of different color phase bears seen.

Bull elk, cow elk and mule deer licenses are by draw or we can put you in touch with unit 61 landowners to purchase a voucher from. Black bear licenses can be drawn with very few points or purchased over the counter depending on season.
